The North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Surgeons is seeking nominations for two open positions on the Board of Directors, one for a Young Fellows representative and one for a Pediatric Surgery representative. To serve as the Young Fellows representative, the candidate must practice in the state of North Carolina, be a member of the American College of Surgeons and the NC Chapter in good standing, and under the age of 45. To serve as the Pediatric Surgery representative, the candidate must be a member of the American College of Surgeons and the NC Chapter in good standing, and board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Surgery. Responsibilities include:
- Attending two board meetings per year. One is held each July in conjunction with the NC/SC combined chapter meeting. The second is held in late January or early February in a central location.
- Provide input and feedback on activities and initiatives of the chapter.
- Assist in program development and outreach to the specific membership represented by the position.
In return, representatives have the opportunity to interact with surgical leaders in the state, develop leadership experience, and represent the organization in advocacy and public relations. The term of service is 3 years.
Self-nominations are requested to ensure the candidate has agreed to the position. Please submit a Curriculum Vitae along with a brief letter of interest and description of qualifications to the Nominating Committee at wanda@ncfacs.org by November 13, 2017. Up to two supporting letters may accompany the nomination, but are not required.
