WHEN: May 23, 2018
WHERE: Halifax Mall, Raleigh, NC
300 N Salisbury St (btwn Lane St and Peace St)
Raleigh, NC 27603
WHO: YOU and Your Surgical Colleagues
WHY: To advocate for high quality surgical care and injury prevention in North Carolina
Join your colleagues for The North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Surgeons & the North Carolina Committee on Trauma Advocacy Day. If you have never been to visit your state elected officials in Raleigh, now is the time! We make it so easy! No experience required! Bring your white coat, business cards, and a colleague. We will take care of the rest.
We will gather on Halifax Mall under the white tents, next to the NC Legislative Office Building in Raleigh at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 23. When you check in for the day at the registration table, you will receive a briefing package with information about your legislators (names, bio information and office location) and talking points about the NC trauma system, Stop The Bleed (STB) training, and our request for the NC Legislature to implement a program to equip NC schools with hemorrhage control kits. To ensure having a personalized briefing package you must register by Friday, May 19 at https://www.ncfacs.org/advocacy-day-in-raleigh/.
Readied with your briefing package, you are off to find your legislators. (The Legislative Office Building will be within sight of the registration tent.) Also included in your briefing packages will be invitations for legislators to come out to Halifax Mall and see STB demonstrations and grab a box lunch. The Vidant Emergency Room Simulation truck will also be on hand for legislators to tour.
Because of the “drop in” nature of the day, we will be offering Stop the Bleed table top demonstrations on Halifax Mall – providing an opportunity to introduce STB. If you are a STB trainer and would like to participate in the STB demonstrations, please let Kathy Browning know by return email at email@example.com by Wednesday, May 16.
